Ally in Practice: Promoting Alternative Formats to Students (Option 2)

Ally in Practice is a global enablement series led by Blackboard Ally’s Product Engagement Manager, designed to help you get the most out of Ally—right where you are. Each one-hour session is intended for a specific audience—either instructors and faculty or administrators—and focuses on the topics most relevant to their role. Through a combination of practical guidance, strategic recommendations, and real-world examples, participants will learn how to create more accessible content, leverage Ally insights and reports, identify opportunities for improvement, and advance accessibility goals across their institution. From understanding your Ally usage report to uncovering quick wins for instructors, each session helps participants understand how Ally supports accessibility, identify opportunities for improvement, and determine where to begin making an impact. To support participants across different regions, each session will be offered twice and recorded for on-demand viewing in the Blackboard Community.
Session #3
Ally in Practice: Promoting Alternative Formats to Students (Option 2)
Help students discover more ways to engage with their course content.
Blackboard Ally's Alternative Formats give students the flexibility to access course materials in ways that fit their needs, preferences, devices, and learning environments. From audio and ePub to HTML, students have options for how they engage with content—but they may not know those options are available.
In this third Ally in Practice session, we'll explore practical ways instructors can increase awareness and encourage students to make use of Alternative Formats throughout the semester.
You'll learn how to:
- Introduce Alternative Formats to students and explain when they might be useful.
- Share practical student use cases that demonstrate the value of different formats.
- Use ready-to-share promotional content and sample syllabus statements to build awareness.
- Identify opportunities to remind students about Alternative Formats, including during exam preparation and end-of-semester review.
Who should attend?
This session is designed for instructors and faculty who want to help students make the most of Alternative Formats. Instructional designers, accessibility specialists, and others who support instructors in creating flexible, accessible courses are also welcome.
