Hi Audrey - can you provide some more information on the error message you keep encountering when trying to import your course?
Jasmine
Hi Jasmine,
I was able to successfully import two out of my three courses. The first
one worked. The second one did not so I exported it again and tried the
import again and then it worked. The third one hasn't worked. I am going to
try exporting it again and try again.
But to answer your question, it keeps saying Fatal error. I just tried to
access it but wound up converting my course back to the original so now I
have to wait.
I am also having MAJOR issues with the ones that did import. It seems that
a LOT of material did not convert over. I can see the list of things that
did not convert. It's well over 100 items. This is going to be so time
consuming to fix it all. On top of that, another huge issue is that all my
subfolders were "un-nested" from their content folders. And I can't seem to
move them back where they belong. I can see how to reorder the content
folders but how do I put a sub-folder back where it belongs? I noticed in
this new platform it says you can only have two levels of folders. I am not
sure if that's the problem or not. I suppose I can reorganize things but
again, I cannot figure out how to MOVE items.
I have to be honest, the old platform is much easier to use. I have been
using CourseSites literally since its inception. I worked with a team in
one of the tech offices (I think his name was Jarl) to pilot features. The
instructor side of this new version is beyond frustrating. I am pretty
savvy with this stuff and I am not happy that I have hours of work ahead of
me on my summer break, trying to fix all these issues. And I spent a hour
trying to find help on all these topics. I just want to talk to someone who
can help me in real time!
Sorry for the rant!
Hi Audrey
Please could you contact the HelpCenter. I'm not sure why you're getting a fatal error on the course restore but they will be best placed to help you with this. You can even start a live chat or telephone in.
Nathan
Thank you. I could not for the life of me find a phone number the other
day. I just replied to someone else who emailed me. But I will definitely
be calling. I need a lot of assistance...and not because I don't know what
I'm doing. This import has wreaked havoc on the classes that did import.
That's great and please do call. I've taken the liberty of restoring one of your courses into my test area and it works fine so I'm sure support can help you. I didn't see the un-nesting issue you've described so I'm very confident this can be resolved.
Okay I'll call tomorrow. I'm trying to import my last class, which was
unsuccessful last time. Which class did you import? And what view are you
looking at? It looks fine when using the old Coursesites view (on the new
site). When you convert it to the new Ultra version, that's when everything
is a mess. Just to be sure...everything has to be converted to Ultra by
Dec. 31st right? Or can I use the new website but keep the old "look"?
Hi Audrey
This is a really important clarification here. You do not need to have converted the courses to the Ultra course experience by 31 December. We are continuing to support the Original course experience in the new CourseSites going forward. The reason we are providing you with the ability to preview your course in Ultra without committing to converting it is that we still have some items which won't convert as you might expect as the change to an improved workflow is still in developed. The preview enables you to move to the Ultra course view when you are ready with a full understanding of what is/is not supported in your existing Original course experience at this time. You can click the button to return the course to the Original experience if you need to at this stage.
I hope this helps to reassure you. We are obviously keen that as many people can take advantage of the Ultra course experience as soon as possible but we are working hard to ensure that you can do this in your own time.
It is only the original CourseSites environment which is going away in 31 December. So you can "... use the new website but keep the old "look" ...".
Okay I have one more stupid question. I renamed one of my courses as
Environmental Science. I need to re-name the others and I cannot for the
life of me remember how I did it! I was doing so much the other day that I
can't figure it out again. I've tried everything!

Just to show you an example:
The first three in this picture should not be their own main files. They
should be found inside those chapters. Instead they are listed with all my
other chapters.

My courses will not import. I keep getting a fatal error. Please offer some support for this. It's been frustrating trying to find some help with this. Thanks.
