We have a very important message that we need to get out to all of our students asap. Onc good way of doing this would be to enable a pop up message that shows when the student logs into Blackboard.
Does anyone know how to create one of those?

For information with that level of priority we use a module which is designed to stay at the top after they login (most often through a SSO portal connection) and it looks like this:
We have this module setup as the Header for the "Default Layout: My Institution" so it shows up above all the other columns of fixed modules. Found here:
We toggle it as available after we change the wording just by editing the module properties:
We use it sparingly and we have found that people notice it and pay attention.

Hi Troy,
This sounds perfect but I must be on a different version to you as I can't find the header option. From the system admin panel I can go into 'Tabs and Widgets'. I'm guessing 'Widgets' is similar to your 'Modules' option but I can't find any header option on there either nor can I create any additional widgets.

I don't like popups, I believe if an institutional announcement is not enough, I would use a module, styled in a way that makes it "pop", like red background or similar, placed on the landing tab in the top, maybe full width (as a "banner").
If it has to be a popup, you could make it using JSHacks and targeting the landing page...
