Help! Our IT has changed how new usernames are created. Previously our Institution username have been a variation of first name, last name, and numbers. So it's been somewhat easy to see who the username belongs to. What IT has changed to now is a series of 6 numbers (246783). Which does solve some issues, but now it creates others.
Faculty for some courses (Learn Orignial Courses) use the assignments feature as a way to collect forms and it's worked really well for them. Using the Assignment File Download in the Grade Center to download all the files for a partifular assignment; Blackboard creates a filename for each assignment and adds it to a zip file.
Column Name_username_submission date_Assignment
I know why the username is used, because it's the database key, but now it's difficult for us to know who the file belongs to.
We've had as many as 150 student in these courses. So, having as many as 8 to 10 assignments and then manually changing the file name (plus having to look up each ID so see who it belongs to) for as many as 150 students for each assignment in class really makes the faculty nervous.
Does anyone know if file names can be changed to reflect last name, first name?
I even thought about the ability to download assingments by student, but if the filename can't be changed, we would have the same issue.
Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone have any ideas?
