In the old Coursesites, we were able to create a test with 100 random questions based on a pool of over a 1000 questions. Is this functionality available in Ultra?
Hi Jason Carter
Although we recently added the ability to reuse questions from previous tests to Ultra courses, the ability to create the type of random blocks you are describing is not yet available for tests in Ultra courses (although you could still leverage it in the original courses). Currently we'd expect to see it added in the first half of 2019. Hope this helps
Hi Nathan Cobb
Thanks for the response. Feel a bit silly asking but does that mean random block tests are available if I imported a course (that contained question pools) from the old legacy Coursesites? I imported a course into the new Coursesites into both a standard and Ultra container (for testing purposes) and can't find the options to create a random test based on an existing pool. I searched the manuals and the community site but can't find instructions on how to set it up. Perhaps I had a "man look"!
We previously had a test that drew questions randomly from several pools. Effectively providing a 100 question test that drew 20 questions from 1 pool, 20 questions from another, and so on.
As always, your help appreciated.
If you included the question pool in your course export from the original CourseSites then they should be in the export package. The course experience is exactly the same for original courses between the two versions. Maybe do a fresh export and make sure the box is ticked as a double check?
Hi again, Nathan.
OK - I've imported the "Tests, Surveys, and Pools" into the new Coursesites. The importing of tests failed with a conversion error of "This test wasn't converted as it didn't contain any supported question types". The original test was 100 questions and set up like this:
Given that the old test wasn't able to be imported, I'd like to create a new test in a similar way in the new Coursesites. However, when I create a new test, I only get options to copy questions from the pools, not add Random Block questions like we could in the old system. Happy to create a new test but I can't find the option to add Random Block questions.
Hope that all makes sense.
