Can I still put passwords on quizzes and tests?
You can put passwords in the Original experience. It seems that in Ultra you cannot set a password. You can set conditional availability, the old adaptive release. With this option (under hide/show to students) you can set a date of availability.
We use the Password function to co-ordinate the start of online exams. Not having this function would be a loss
Will you please say more about how you coordinate the start of online exams? I don't see the advantage of passwords over a display start date/time. Are the tests administered in person in a classroom?
Hi... Yes sure.
We deliver online assessment in, often large, computer clusters. The passwords allow students to access the tests but are stopped at the password screen. Once all students have logged in/accessed the password screen we're able to synchronise the start of the exam by revealing the password.
We measure the length of the exam using the 'real world' clock - which is why it's important to control the start of the exam.
The advantage is that Students can see/access the test and click the links but are then stopped. Using a Selective Release criteria created lots of students saying they could not see the test (it hadn't been revealed yet) and then after the start of the exam students just sat there waiting for it to appear (they don't refresh the screen). These aren't complex issue but dealing with 100+ Students already stressed for an exam you need things to work as simply as possible. Password reveals have been really effective for this.
Hope that's useful... Happy to try answer any specific questions
