Hi, we've recently rolled over a course and would like to copy over the users discussion posts.
The advice from BB is that this is only possible using archive/restore option.
Anyone know if there is a another possible solution.
You could do an exact copy. An exact copy would bring over course content, the assigned faculty members as well as the users enrollments. Once the copy is made you may need to remove the users from the enrollment screen. Once you access the course again I believe the discussion board post will be marked as anonymous.
Hope this can be of assistance!
Thanks for the response.
Unfortunately the above will only work if the rolled over course hasn't been worked on, e.g. content added.
I don't think it will be possible to copy discussion posts (or other student generated data) into an existing course, but I would like to know more about this use case. Can you describe what you are trying to accomplish generally? Is the new course a continuation of the old one?
Hi Jeff, the course is a continuation of the old one and the students rollover with the course for the new academic year until they graduate.
The discussion board we are looking to copy in full is their introductions to the cohort. This would save the students from having to redo their introductions.
We were caught out this year as the tutors only thought about it after the rollover.
It's not a major issue but it would've been nice to have this functionality.
Alicia's suggestion above is something we tried, but as mentioned, is not really a solution in this instance.
