The Developer AMI seems to only be available for region US East (N. Virginia).
Is that correct, or have I missed something?
If there any particular reason it is only available for the one region?
There isn't a technical reason, per se. We needed to get it out and releasing in one region was the quickest way to make that happen. Our thought was that, as a developer instance, there wouldn't really be personal data stored, so in-region was less important than available. That's not to say we will never make it available anywhere else. Its just where it ended up for phase 1.
I'll defer to Mark O'Neil for any further comment on if/when it may be available in ANZ specifically.
Scott is spot on re why we started with only one region.
Adding regions based on demand is something I am definitely interested in.
If you are interested in the AMI coming to a region near you, please add an Idea to the developer ideas space with the title Support for AWS Region <needed region> e.g. Support for AWS Region Sydney
A listing of AWS Regions is available on the AWS Region Table page.
Other regions are expected in the 03/2018 release, see https://community.blackboard.com/ideas/2570-add-restlti-developer-ami-to-additional-aws-regions#comment-13950
