Thank you Sheryn!
At around 19 mins, the BB team is discussing the notification settings and the problem that we are experiencing with emails for daily digests that just won't stop. The question was if it was both students and faculty that get these emails, but one of your clients confirm that faculty also get them. I have an ongoing case with BB support and I have provided them with information which I think proves that emails are actually sent to faculty from their student preview users, that are created when you preview your course and the let the student data be kept intact, i.e. creating an actual user in the course. So, when faculty receives notification emails from a student perspective, it is the preview user who is on the receiving end (if you hover on a link in one of those emails, you can see the userID: _X_XXX_1 and you can then track that using logs - sometimes it's your regular user, sometimes it's your preview user).
@Peter I have asked Brent Mundy to help answer this question.
Hi Peter, I looked at your support case for this issue; indeed, it appears to be the same as what was described in the UUG recording around 19 min. We are planning to address this issue in an updated version of 3300.2.0. This updated 3300.2.x release will contain a number of stability fixes that were targeted to be released in 3300.4.0. This release will be deployed at a future date prior to the release of 3300.6.0 to Client Test and Staging Environments.
This issue only exists for users subscribed to digest emails; users subscribed to individual emails do not experience this issue. If any of your users need immediate relief from this issue, please have them change their email notification preferences from ‘Email me once a day’ to ‘Email me right away.’ Once the updated 3300.2.x release is available, users may switch back to ‘Email me once a day’ without issue.
Ok, Thanks Brent!
Another thing, the language in the email notifications... those seem to be hard coded using system language only? They don't seem to be translated when I change user language to en_GB.
Email notifications are localized to the system default locale (set by the admin). They are not localized to the recipient’s user profile locale.
I see. Any thoughts on making that user dependant, like you did with the submisison receipts that is sent to students. A couple of releases back, you made it so the receipts was sent according to user language.
Thanks for the suggestion. That's a good idea and a natural extension to the existing capability. We are planning some additional work to improve locale support in 2018. I'll connect this detail back in to the team so it can be considered as well.
Ali Ganjalizadeh for reference.
