Can my letter grade schema be copied and transferred between courses? I don't want to regenerate the schemas multiple times for different courses every semester. Thanks.
It's been a while since I did this, but I think we created a course with pretty much just the grading schema in it. Be sure the Grade Center does not have columns created that you don't want to have copied.
Go to Packages and Utilities
Click Export/Archive Course
Select just Grade Center Columns and Settings
Click the Submit button
Go back to the Export/Archive Course page and you'll see that a .zip file has been created
Click the filename to download the file to your computer
You now have a zip file that contains the grading schema. This file can be imported into courses (Import Package) to add the grading schema to the course.
When importing, be sure to select Grade Center Columns and Settings. Check the Grade Center for extra columns as Total/Weighted Total will also be imported if they were in the original course.
Also, we have a template course that is used as part of our SIS integration. When new courses are created each term, they are created using the template course which contains our current grading schema. If the grading schema changes, we modify the schema in the template so that all new courses will contain the updated template. Since faculty copy courses from prior terms, it's important to be sure they know that there is a new template and to select it rather than the template that will be added to the course from the instructor's prior course when the course copy is performed.
