Is there a way for students to download the PDFs, PowerPoints etc, that have been uploaded under the "shared" tab?
Hi Paul Garner,
Which shared tab are you referring to? Could you share a screenshot?
Hi Paul Garner
currently, the answer to your question is No ! the documents are not shared in Ultra's "Share Documents" tool and therefore not available for download. Any document uploaded to Collaborate Ultra is converted into a series of image frames (similar to Collaborate Classic's "Load content to the whiteboard"). Sharing documents in Ultra means "showing the view of document pages".
In the Idea Exchange, there is a discussion about "Ultra persistant whiteboard", where the document pages shown can be saved including the annotaions made by the teacher during the session (similar to Collaborate Classic's "Save whiteboard as PDF")
If your question focuses the distribution of documents as handout for students (similar to Collaborate Classic's "Load content for File Transfer"), the workaround is to use any file storage service (Dropbox et al) and share the link to students by chat message. I described some "handout" use cases in the Instructional Designer Community to illustrate the advantage for a dropbox-like File Transfer included into future Collaborate Ultra.
Hope that helps
Thanks Mero. Plenty of info in there to digest and definitely glad to see the persistent whiteboard is being worked on. At the moment then for file handouts we will use Moodlerooms as the workaround.
