Hi everyone -
Many, many years ago, our campus currently built a local eReserves system and it's getting harder for them to maintain due to aging infrastructure and lack of available programmers. Users have to log in with an assigned password for the course and term to access the resources. Staff must maintain the copyrights, of course, as well as the bibliographic information and acquisition results for the requests. The library typically gets about 500 requests a semester, equally distributed between physical acquisitions (print, media) and digital (library database, special requests, streaming media). does not talk to Blackboard at all. Our library's current system does not talk to Blackboard at all. They've looked at Ares, but the price is a little high at this time. We've shown them the eReserves option in the Bb Content Collection, but I'm not sure they're sold yet on the workflows.
My questions for the hive mind:
- What is your library doing to support eReserves?
- How have you integrated your solution into Blackboard?
- What best practices can you recommend, especially if you are using Bb to support eReserves?
Thanks very much!
