I am trying to upload a PDF file that has a unique format for one of my classes, but the "upload questions" area will only allow me to load a .txt file, in which case my formatting will be lost. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
There's a couple of variables here.
How are you trying to add the PDF? Is it just to a content item.
You should be able to add a PDF to this, but you may be better off adding it to your Content Collection first (of course, that assumes you have the Content Collection set up at your institution).
What do you want the students to do with the PDF file?
Do they write answers on it, or just read it and submit answers in another way? Or is it the information (case study or whatever) on which they have to answer questions?
If you use Create Assignment, there is an assignment files area where you can upload the PDF (just under the box for assignment instructions). This will work if you want them to either write on the PDF - remember that they will need to save it to their own computers, then upload it from there - or write their own document to upload. Even if your nicely-formatted PDF is a case study or the like, you could write your questions at the end, they could reference the numbers in their answers.
If you have a series of questions for them that you want to use the Test tool to administer, the best idea would be to post the PDF as a content item with a note to 'Read this then answer the questions below' and then create your Test with the questions.
Remember to use the date settings so that both are made available to the students at the appropriate time.
Hope this helps!
