I want to extract all approved blackboard grades to a database using Grade center journey(REST).
I am tagging Chris Bray who has done this successfully and should be able to help.
I haven't attempted REST extracts.... just using the Normal integration to SFTP extracted grades to a campus system.
Although we are not using REST, we have now been able to get it successfully running with the Normal Integration but only after updating to Q4 2016 due to the need to customizing the Column Mapping so we can extract the needed information from the records.
I am now trying to work out the best CRON format.
To verify, you want to schedule grade extract instead of letting the instructor determine when they're finished grading, and they extract it as needed?
Are you planning on extracting early progress/midterm grades as well, or just final?
We are scheduling the CRON to run twice a day to update the final grade using only the External column. We are allowing the instructors to approve for transfer that scheduled them to be extracted for the next extract run. We are using a combined file of all approved and scheduled grades. It is all working pretty smooth.
Hope that answers the question.
I have a quick question reference Grades Journey. It is my understanding this is a Pre-Installed Building Block that comes with the Learn application. we can configure it ourselves and have gotten it to work with our HR system using the data integration. We are self hosted and did not need any Blackboard consulting to configure it. The question is; are you all paying in support fees or additional costs to use the Grades Journey Building Block?
It comes pre-installed beginning with Q4 2015 (from recollection). As long as you don't involve Bb Services/Consulting to do customizations and setup, then you do not have to pay anything additional for it.
What SIS system your using ?
We are using the Banner SIS and setup the Grade Journey in Blackboard. Till generating the files all is ok, now we are planning how to load this file into the Banner.
If you have any propose solution, please share with us.
Thanks in advance.
