Good Morning colleagues!
I am testing/running a new University Fb group for a particular course. I have an administrator account and I was trying to embed Fb comments, posts, share buttons into Blackboard, but I couldn’t. I was using the FB developer tools https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/embedded-comments, but it seems doesn’t work in Fb Groups or probably it is just coding that unfortunately, I am not an expert. Our idea is not to put public post comments. Any helps will be much appreciated!
Yes, for some reason (advertising revenue ?;) ) facebook doesn't want to facilitate showing groups outside of facebook. If you use an iframe or something like that it won't render. For big platforms like wordpress they ended up developping some wordpress plugins to "hack" this. To my knowledge there hasn't been a Bb building block, in fact many institutions prefer to keep things separate (and it's the feedback I often got from students : they want their own secret FB group AND interactions on Bb which are more official )
You can show a facebook page (maybe consider using a page instead of group ? it depends on the features you need).
And you can embed a commenting tool through the comments plugin Comments - Social Plugins - Documentation - Facebook for Developers (not "embed comments" (pretty cool although quite manual) : user can comment and decide to post it to facebook too or not. (forgive the mess in the course of this screenshot : it's a place where I test stuff)
