Has anyone made any progress on developing IPEDS reports, particularly for student, finance, and financial aid? I'd like to find out more about how you've approached this and how much can be done with the OOTB data model vs. customizing. Thanks!
It is my understanding that the IR person at Concordia Wisconsin built most of the IPEDS reports in Pyramid. Christopher Brandt should be able to fill you in more.
We have done a bunch around setting up pyramid reports out of the BBI models for submitting enrollment, completions, graduation rates, and the like. Though we did do some simple customization for IR in order to get the exact banding that IPEDS required (particularly around age) but these can also be done for the most part within Pyramid as custom elements.
I too am curious to see if anyone out there has systematized this process for reporting (Pyramid or SSRS), or if anyone has added any specific customizations around IPEDS reporting measures for ensuring consistency (similar to the way that CDS measures are structured in the Fin Aid Model).
Just to elaborate on this a bit, since it has come up here the last couple of weeks. We are in the process of working out what will either become a customization to our DegreeSeekingIndicator dimension or an additional dimension. The concept coming out of our IR office is that in our Pyramid Data discoveries we will be able to answer both IPEDS and CDS reporting out of Pyramid (for Student) if we create a hierarchy that Breaks down DegreeSeeking the following way.
It will be a while before we turn this around (business rules and so forth) but I will keep you posted.
So, Just something to think about.
As you are probably aware here at GU our IR office generates our IPEDS reports using the relational database layer combined with SSRS. I cannot speak to how well it works but I know it is certainly possible.
