Since ASR connections are not encrypted, am I right to assume that querying user activity from the ACTIVITY_ACCUMULATOR table with ASR would make that FERPA-protected user data vulnerable to third-party interception?

At today's ASR User Group meeting, a solution was suggested to run such queries in a developer VM. As far as I know, receiving a copy of our database for use in a VM is not an option for Managed Hosting clients such as my institution.

Are MH clients SOL on this point, or is there a solution? And if there is no solution, why does ASR offer access to the ACTIVITY_ACCUMULATOR table?
