A faculty member wants to create a test with 15 questions, but the students will pick the 10 they want to answer. What's the best way to set this up in Bb Learn?
We usually do this one of two ways depending whether there are other questions in the test and the length of the reponses:
I don't think there is any functionality inbuilt to do this. I have a similar issue with converting paper exams to online where the question is "Answer 1 of these 3 essay questions". At the moment we present all questions separately and use HTML formating to instruct students to answer one and leave the others blank... It's a bit messy but has been working.
I think we you can use Random Block here.

Create the test with 15 questions (each question the same points, for simplicity).Ask the students to answer at least 10 of these questions.
After the deadline, download the results (By Question and User), and open this download in a spreadsheet-program.Remove all rows for which answer is <unanswered>
Add another spreadsheet-tab with the "User Information Only " from a Grade Center download. On this tab:
Upload these results to the Grade Center, with the necessary explanations for the students.
I like spreadsheet gurus.
