Has anyone been able to add images/colors or create a new layout or color scheme for use in a portfolio template? (Learn Oct 2014 or later)
Hi Cyndi,From within the Blackboard interface there is no option to do so other than choosing the pre-defined styles.
However, if you know where the CSS files are located you can alter one of those themes (for example) to match your institutional branding. We chose to alter the default theme to match our institutions branding.Point of attention is that you do have to save your files because your changes might be lost when a CU is applied or a regular upgrade. The location of the Portfolio-themes should be something like:
or when using the old database schema:
The smart thing to do is, make a copy of the folder which you want to alter so that you can always go back to how it was.
Than modify the brand, depending on caching settings it takes a while before it's shown within Blackboard.See my attachments for how it manifests itself. (Depending on what and how you edit the colors.css file)
Portfolio with a different theme:
How it shows in the menu:
For this you need to edit the metadata.txt
How it shows in the "my portfolios" section.
Hope this is of any use?
Thank you very much for the great information
My pleasure, it's undocumented (for as far as I know ) I searched until I found the location of the css-files.Regards,Rick.
