i have connected my blackboard admin to a LTI Tool provider by setting its URL , shared secret , and consumer key but the link for tool is not displaying anywhere in the LMS. Anyone can please help me out where i can get this link?
Hi Elvana Heng,
Go to the LTI tool provider link inside building block section and click on the dropdown of your LTI tool there is an option for "manage placement" by using this option you can create placement and decide where to display your tool.
In canvas i used consumer key, shared secret and launch URL for adding tool but in learn while adding tool provider it ask for provider key so is it different from what i am willing to do?
The provider key term is used to mean the same as the consumer key.
ohk but there is not any check box for that in the web link in my admin account
I added it but on creating placement it is giving an alert for -
Tool Provider URL must be located on one of the configured host names.
Hi ranu jaiswal,
I am having the same issue. I cannot see the checkbox in the web link in my admin account.
Can you please share on how you managed to solve this issue?
Can you share how you addressed the alert you mentioned, "Tool Provider URL must be located on one of the configured host names"? I am setting up an LTI tool and am not able to successfully create placement for the tool. I get this same pop-up every time. Thank you!
Hi Aaron ,
You have to type the Same tool Provider URL while creating placement that you have mentioned while creating tool provider.
I believe that is what I have done. Does this look right? Is there something else I'm missing?
You have to include https/http in your Tool URL textbox
Thank you!! That did the trick.
FYI, for others following along, it will not allow "http(s)://" for the Provider Domain when creating the LTI (no special characters allowed). But when you Create Placement, you must include http(s):// for the Tool Provider URL.
yes you are right!
Did you follow all the instructions I pointed you to in another thread (How to create my own building block) including adding a placement? You can always just add a web link to a course, enter the URL and check the box to confirm that this is an LTI Tool Provider.
