Is there a group here for Moodlerooms users or other elearning designers? Keen to share ideas with others using the platform. Hope this is the right area to put this
Great news Teresa MacKinnon and Cheryl Tyler : a new space has been created for Moodlerooms ! Join the community here Moodlerooms Community (upper right > Actions > Join ) .
Thanks to Jason Hardin and his team for following up on users' suggestions and creating this space !
Looking forward to read you all there
Hi Cheryl Tyler- This is the right place for now, thanks for jumping in! We are in Beta which means things are moving and changing while we determine what the community prefers. So far we have seen a need to update the site architecture (break discussions out by persona, ie: instructional design, educator, system admin, developer, etc.). We will start there and potentially add new forums as the discussion grows. In regards to product specific discussions, Jive (our community platform) has a fantastic search and tagging mechanism. When looking for Moodlerooms specific material, you can either search (I like the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner best), or select a tag like Moodlerooms to search content. I am also copying Jason Hardin one of our Product Mangers for Moodlerooms, he is a great resource!!
Thanks Marissa, I'll keep reading. There is a lot of great information on here and I'm looking forward to being part of the community. Cheryl
Cheryl Tyler glad to have you here as well. I have reached out to a couple of clients I know interested in elearning design to have them post here and maybe you all can create a discussion group for that.
So far what I have been doing is posting Moodlerooms resources for clients that come to the community to review. From an elearning perspective our YouTube videos on Snap might be useful if your institution is using or thinking about using the Snap theme for Moodle. You should be able to find them at Discussions assuming that link works correctly. We are really trying to expand our video content for clients on our YouTube channel and then make sure it is also posted here for clients.
Thanks Jason, yes I've had a look at the SNAP videos and have started using it with a few of our lecturers here. Will subscribe to the you tube channel as well. Cheryl
How is the use of Snap going?
Any thoughts about differences in course design with Snap compared to another Moodle theme?
Cheryl, I work as Senior Instructional Designer at the University of Montana, and I'd be interested in getting involved in design-related discussions here. My particular focus is around accessibility, and Moodlerooms has developed some great features in that regard. Is there a particular topic you're currently interested in discussing? I'd be interested to learn more.
Hi Marlene, Thanks for responding. I work as a Learning Designer at the Universal College of Learning in New Zealand. We moved to Moodlerooms in April. We were moodle users previously but enjoying discovering the new features that Moodlerooms includes. At this stage I don't have any particular topics, we are getting into SNAP a little more but I am keen to see how others are using the features and hopefully getting involved in a community sharing ideas and snags we may hit as we increase our usage.
I'm in the UK and also a Moodlerooms user. Can I join you?
Yes of course. All Moodlerooms or even Learn clients would be welcome to the discussion. We want to help facilitate conversations between clients all over the world and using any of our products. I think e learning and instructional design can be focused at both a macro and micro level that allows for conversations across LMS and within a specific one.
Thanks Jason. You may be interested in our sue of Snap on our Languages@Warwick site, I made this for our users.
Thanks for posting this update Yolene ORS, it's exciting to now mark this as the correct answer .
