The pilot product in my opinion is not ready for primetime. We are using Zoom as a stop measure.
Is there anyone who is having success in grouping in CU?
Jason's question is similar to mine. Are you referring to the ability to break students up into smaller groups? Are there any other features in Zoom that you would like to see in Collaborate?
For a more specific answer, Breakout Groups is currently in development. Polling is the next virtual classroom specific item on our roadmap. It will begin development around the time when Breakout Groups is finished. We too consider these the most important virtual classroom features to support larger scale adoption. Stay tuned over the next few months for updates on these fronts.
can you clarify "grouping in CU?" Are you referring to the grouping option in the classic version? I am also interested in polling feature as well.
That is my abbreviation for Collaborate Ultra.
Carl answered some of the development questions and I will ask him about my wish list below.
What I personally would like to see is:
Is being able to see who attended a recorded Collaborate Ultra session on the road map? Last semester, I had a session where I was using the attendance of the session as extra credit. When I went back to view the recording, I could not see the chat window in order to find out who attended. Our ultra integration is through the LTI strategy.
We are piloting Collaborate Ultra at our institution and frankly as an early pioneer of the product, I have had to switch to Zoom for reliability.
Zoom does not have some of the features below but for the number of online meetings I hold, along with coaching and advising meetings I conduct with students, I had to switch. I am looking forward to the stability issues being worked out, particularly having some of the same features in the older product as far as managing the invitations and the content of the recorded sessions.
Here is my wish list for development:
What I personally* would like to see is:
*As a faculty fellow at my institution and BB Certified Trainer, I work with 100's of FT and PT faculty who have also expressed their needs to me.
By the way, I would love to be able to present at BB World. I have been teaching online since 1999.
