Has anyone ever submitted a request to have something improved in Blackboard and actually seen it change later on?
One of our requests regarding Learn was implemented. It was the test exceptions on the test options with regards to accommodating students for more time and different access days on a test. I made this suggestion a couple of years and was very surprise how the team was able to implement it. The biggest improvement is a functioning calendar.
I do wish they work on a Extra Credit option for assignments and grade importing. The grade importing would be nice when a student has an incomplete but the instructor does not want to work between two course shells. Even though the instructor can see what needs to be graded with the Qwickly module or the To-Do module but educator behavior is typically focused on the current semester versus the previous.
I haven't worked there in several years. But, each suggestion was logged and eventually read by somebody. If there were a lot of requests along the same lines, they would add it to a list for possible inclusion in a future release and go from there. So a single request for an obscure feature will go nowhere, but common complaints and improvement suggestions are certainly considered.
Hello, Troy. I can understand how it could feel like requests are often submitted and never reviewed or implemented. Increasing transparency and getting more consistent, detailed feedback from our community of users are two of my goals for this new community site. Posts like yours are another positive sign that people want to engage and be engaged and are interested in participating in the process, so thank you for your involvement.
In the past year, we've introduced a number of enhancements and new features in Learn that were driven by conversations with our users. In the October 2014 release, we added additional Calendar customization and Outcomes reporting enhancements. For the Q4 2015 release, we introduced the Goal Performance Dashboard based on user feedback that competency-based education is becoming more important to many institutions. In that release, we also made it easier to exchange grade data between Learn and your SIS.
For the Ultra experience, we have been implementing features based on what users have told us are the most important workflows. We began with the basics, like the Grade Book, Calendar, Assignments, Discussions, and the Stream. Now we're working on Tests and creating content natively in Learn while we continue adding features to those areas we already have.
If you have specific feedback on existing features or suggestions for something completely new, please don't hesitate to add them to the Ideas space here. I personally read everything submitted, ask follow-up questions when needed, and convey the ideas submitted to the larger Product Management team to help inform our prioritization for future work. Thanks again for joining our community, I appreciate it.
