Google is apparently removing webcam support from YouTube.
Hi Dan- The PM team is working on an update and releasing a Support bulletin sometime this week. Stay tuned, I will also update this post once published. Thanks!
That YouTube article seems outdated... The effective date is listed as January 16th, 2015.
This still works for us, so I don't know if the date is incorrect in this article or if we still have it as part of Google Apps for Education. Anyway, I'm interested to see what works after January.
Google may have put the wrong year on the date when they updated the page. As of December 2nd they still had instructions on using the webcam at the same page. https://web.archive.org/web/20151202183728/https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/57409?hl=en
This looks like grim news.... When you log in and go directly to YouTube, and then to upload a video - if you press YouTube's own "record from webcam" button you see this at the top of the screen: Webcam uploads will no longer be available after January 16, 2016. Learn more
Not a good sign.
Bb published the article today, 41564.
I was assuming that would be the result but was hoping for some workaround.
Thanks for the update, Dan!
That is what I would expect, but is unfortunate. We had just convinced faculty to use Video Everywhere, and now we'll have to tell them they can't use it for direct recording.
