Are faculty and students able to view and reply to Bb Learn course messages in the Bb Mobile Apps?
Yes. You have to select Recipients: at the top and then a menu opens at the bottom from which you select a student name. Not intuitive.
Hi Michelle - thanks so much for replying and your help. I apologize that I wasn't clearer but what I was really wanting to know was if when opening the Bb mobile app, could the student or instructor actually read, reply and send courses messages in the app not teh browser and would they receive app notifications that they had course messages. I did contact the Bb Mobile Support and they referred me to http://help.blackboardmobile.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1268257-tools-not-supported?b_id=2825 which states that Course Messages are not natively in the Bb Mobile App.
Now, I'm confused as when I open the Bb mobile ap, I can read and write messages to my students. I did it before I replied to your message to make sure I could. I know I was in the app! Maybe it depends on your version of Bb.
i thought i'd jump in here...are you referencing the Mobile Learn app, or the new Bb Student app?
Actually I'd like to know for either app, please. Thanks! :-)
Bb Student doesn't currently have messages; Mobile Learn does, but it ultimately is an embedded web interface in the native app.
Thanks Jennifer - will the student or faculty member be prompted to re-enter their username/password in the embedded web interface to view, send and reply to the messages? Or is it single-sign-on?
Also does the user receive an in-app notification from Mobile Learn that there is a course message?
In Bb mobile, I've never had to sign in again to use messages. Single sign-on.
single sign-on, and no notification. hope this helps!
That's good to know. Sometimes I push these aps to my students. Can the student get the Bb mobile app as opposed to the "Student app"?
We recommend Bb Student for US/Canada institutions on the SP 14+ with a mobile license. Bb Student is encouraged over Mobile Learn at this point, however, if Discussions is a key aspect of their course, then we have yet to implement that in Bb Student - will happen in early 2016.
I am revisting this issue. In BB Learn Notifications - you can send notifications of Course Messages to Notifications, Email but not Mobile.
We are using BB Student. Has there been any changes - does the course message appear at all in BB Student - possibly as an update, a message or notification?
Has anyone looked at Course Messages in Q2 2017 and aware of any changes?
