Each semester we have BB Managed Hosting archive our courses while the students are still enrolled to preserve documentation of grades. Today an instructor asked for his course to be restored for a grade issue.
The process used to restore was Courses - Create New - Restore - new course named and ZIP file from BB chosen.
The restored course only brought in the student names and files - nothing else. I can look at the original course (now without students) and see announcements, course documents, columns in the gradebook.
Is there another process for restoring? Suggestions?
Mike, is correct, archives contain everything including grades. When I have done a course restore, I import the achieve zip using the Import Package option under Packages and Utilities. If you are able to create your own user sandbox courses in your Blackboard instance, it is easier to create a sandbox course and import the archive zip file into that one. Then you can give the instructor access to the information in it. There have been some instances where I have had to do the import more than one time because for some reason it didn't do it on the first try.
