When will bbgrader become bbinstructor? And will it be available for both ipad and android?
Hey - great question - at Bb World, we showed "Bb Instructor" on our roadmaps as "In Research" and verbally mentioned a 2016 timeframe. In the meantime, we will continue to support Mobile Learn and Bb Grader for instructors.
George Walters I too would like to know when BbInstructor will be ready. If I am remembering correctly at BbWorld they did say it would be available for both iPad & Android just like BbStudent is. I look forward to seeing Blackboard Learn Developers reply.
Thanks for asking this George.
I'd like to know this too - and specifically when for UK clients. We always seem to have to wait longer than the US for any Bb product release.
I'm interested to find out as well. My faculty have been asking for a faculty version for a long time now. I'm glad BB is releasing one soon.
Hi William, I may have misunderstood your reply - but sharing just in case your faculty aren't aware- Bb Instructor is a persona-based app that is coming out soon. However, there is already a instructor-focused app (Bb Grader) which is available for download right now. It's a pretty useful app and has high adoption among our faculty.. unfortunately it is only available for iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad 2, 3, or 4 running iOS, iOS7, iOS8 - no android (bummer), no phone-optimized version (kind of makes sense given the nature of the tasks completed on the app). Other requirements are below and on the help site:
All this said, I am excited for Bb Instructor! Seems like it will fill some gaps.
Thanks Rachel, I've use the Bb Grader app. It's ok. I was interested to see what functionality the Instructor app had to offer. Not all faculty user the test feature in Blackboard. But, most all faculty post assignments, send announcements, some use the blog, and post documents/ PPTs. Hopefully the new app will be more robust and offer more functionality. I to am excited about the possibilities.
Does that mean that there will be no more updates to Bb Grader (or Learn) until the updated Student app and new Instructor apps are updated and created?
It will be good for us to know as far as being prepared for mobile use in the future.
Mobile Learn and Bb Grader bug fixes will continue in order to support Instructors. Major new features to these applications are not on the roadmap since those would manifest in Bb Instructor.
Thanks much for the update; that is helpful to know the status of the existing and upcoming apps.
