Will there still be community portal tabs and modules equivalent in Ultra?
We will have the first iteration of the Institution Page and the first module for it by BbWorld 2017 at the latest. We're hoping to have it ready a little earlier than that, but I'm just erring on the side of caution as I cannot predict issues that may come up during the final stages of testing. Upon release you will be able to select one institution page for all users and one module that supports text and hyperlinks. The next iteration will be looking to add the ability to make different versions of the Institution page based off Institution role (multiple roles will be able to toggle between them), and additional modules. The next round of modules we're looking at are a System Announcement module (that ties into the Targeted Notification feature), and an Image Gallery. This is just very near-term roadmap for institution page. If you wish to discuss your institution's specific requirements or want to know about some other roadmap items we have planned, drop me a note and we can schedule some time - firstname.lastname@example.org.

I definitely would be interested in having custom home landing pages/modules per user profile/grade/role.
We have to force landing pages for different roles and ages. Example elementary get different home page than high school students than staff for PD. We also lock down the page so it cannot be changed at certain levels. There definitely items we use currently we would like to have in Ultra. We then push out new modules to users pages.
We have been taking advantage of tabs/modules to embed just-in-time tutorials and pointers to other academic applications, i.e. Learning Portal. It is more than a campus information page. Need it!!
My impression from the Ultra roadmap today is that they're still figuring out ways to deliver targeted content. It's just that the current tab/module layout doesn't really work with responsive design, so they're looking for alternative layouts/formats that will work better.
Exactly. We're also taking the opportunity to think about better ways to do what people do with tabs and modules today. One example is that it's common that important notices for specific users are posted in a module. However, that content sits there with other content and doesn't alert the user in any way. Wouldn't it be better if an important, population-targeted notice went to users in a way in which they were notified, and perhaps even had acknowledge the notification? These are the kinds of explorations underway as tabs and modules are being considered and redesigned.
It would be interesting to see, we create 20-30 groups/communities and then populate 50K users in depending on type and then send course announcements. Like 1st grade group at School 1 or All Employee/Staff.
Some notices may need to stay for a month or longer. So you do not want to notify users all the time. These are some situations you may want to consider as well.
I know this thread is 2 years old, but has there been any updates?
