The best pilots are never JUST about the technology

This presentation from Rob Nyland is among my favorite from the Blackboard Analytics Symposium. A very thoughtful approach to structuring and documenting the results of an EdTech pilot, in a way that acknowledges that you are NEVER just piloting a technology, but also a new set of practices. And the results were incredibly promising: a 5% increase in student retention.

I am especially thrilled by how Rob was able to underscore the impact of Boise State University's faculty-led intervention strategy through a poignant example: responding to early alert information surfaced by Blackboard Analytics for Learn, a student was able to access the emergency funds they needed, not just to stay in school, but to eat.
