A question we get from time to time from our Blackboard clients is when are the Qwickly multi-course tools going to be available for Ultra. I'm excited to share that, as announced at Qwickly Seminar 2018, we do plan do deliver the tool set during the later half of the 2018-19 school year. I can even share a first look at what you'll be seeing.
It's probably important to give some context about some of the challenges delivering our extraordinarily popular module, used by nearly 750 schools around the world, for the Ultra Experience.
Firstly, this is an LTI version of the tool, as Blackboard Ultra does not support Building Block integration points. That means the entire tool will be hosted on Qwickly servers. The positive is that we can deliver fixes to bugs with no system administrator intervention.
The module integration point in Ultra is no more (at least at the writing of this post). This has required us to re-think how users will interact with the multi-course tools; our solution brings us to a more "full screen" approach which will also allow us to bring a more responsive design to the tool. We also have redesigned the tool to feel more native to each LMS (yes, we plan to bring this tool to at least 3 LMSes in 2019), so the design will feel more Ultra-like.
One additional point is that some features of the existing tools may not be available at launch due to possible gaps in Blackboard REST APIs. As more APIs become available, we do intend to expand the tools.
If you're interested in being one of the first to see what else we have in store for the 2019 school year, make sure to attend Qwickly Seminar 2019 - our free user event on June 4, 2019!
Wishing you all the best in 2019!
