Creating an Articulate Storyline Presentation or Quizmaker Quiz Scorm Package to be added Blackboard Learn.
Part 01: Setting the options in Articulate and Publishing the SCORM Package.
01: Open the Articulate Presentation
02: Navigate to the quiz and click Edit in Quizmaker
03: Click on the Quiz Properties.
Optionally set the Passing Score for the quiz. When a passing score is set above 0% the SCORM attempt will remain in progress until the student reaches the required passing score.
If the Passing score is set to 0% and the single attempt option is selected the students will only be allowed a single attempt whether they pass or fail. The results of this attempt will be recorded in the Grade Centre
If the Passing score is set to 0% and a Multiple attempt option is selected the students will be allowed multiple attempts whether they pass or fail. Each one of these attempts will be recorded separately in the Grade Centre.
If the Passing score is set above 0% and the single attempt option is selected in Blackboard Learn the package will be considered 'In Progress' until the student reaches the required passing score. Students will be allowed to attempt the package multiple times and will the package will only be considered completed when the student achieves the passing score. Once this happens that will be considered as a single (completed) attempt in learn. The results of the completed attempt will be recorded in the Grade Centre.
If the Passing score is set above 0% and a Multiple attempt option is selected in Blackboard Learn the package will be considered 'In Progress' until the student reaches the required passing score. Students will be allowed to attempt the package multiple times and will the first attempt will only be considered completed when the student achieves the passing score. Once this happens that will be considered as a single (completed) attempt in learn. The results of the completed attempt will be recorded in the Grade Centre. The next time the package is launched a second attempt in the Grade Centre will be created.
The correct setting of the passing score percentage is critical in achieving the desired result in the Blackboard Learn Grade Centre.
If in doubt set it to 0% so the options in Blackboard Learn can better control the recording of the results.
04: Click On Save and Return to Presenter.
05: Click on the Publish option.
06: Click the LMS option in the left tabs.
07: Under Output Options Set SCORM 2004
08: Click the 'Reporting and Tracking' button.
09: Under the Edition option select '4th Edition'
10: Under LMS Reporting Select either Completed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed as the status.
11: Click the Tracking tab and confirm the quiz is selected to pass results to Blackboard Learn
Articulate can only pass the results of a single quiz per presentation. Create separate presentations if the results of more than one quiz need to be recorded in the Blackboard Learn Grade Centre.
12: Click the Publish Button.
13: Once complete click the Zip option to create a package ready to be uploaded into Blackboard Learn.
Part 02: Adding the SCORM content item in Blackboard Learn.
01: Log in as an instructor of the course.
02: In a content area select the Build Content menu > Content Package (SCORM)
03: Click Browse My Computer or Browse Content Collection
Zipped packages can be stored in the Content Collection ready to be deployed into courses. A SCORM package cannot run from the Content Collection.
04: Navigate to the package and click the open button.
05: Click Submit
The Message displayed 'Some issues were found with this course which may affect playability' can be ignored.
06: Enter a description of the content item.
07: Set the Make Scorm Available to Yes
08: Select the required option for Number of Attempts. Taking into account the note in Part 1.
09: In the Grade Scorm section set a short title. This will be the name of the column in the Grade Centre.
10: Choose either SCORM Score or SCORM Completion.
SCORM Score will display the result of the quiz in the Grade Centre and SCORM Completion will display a check mark (tick) when the quiz or presentation is completed.
As Articulate doesn't create packages with multiple scos the grade timing can be left as default.
11: Click Submit.
Part 03: Reviewing the results in Blackboard Learn.
After the students have taken the quiz the results of the attempts can be reviewed in the grade centre.
01: Log in to Blackboard Learn as an instructor on the course.
02: Navigate to the Grade Centre
Depending on the options selected there will be either a numeric score or a green checkmark in the column relating to the Articulate quiz or presentation.
03: In the More Options context menu next to an individual’s result select the relevant Attempt from the list.
The results of the quiz will be display in the Learning Object Interactions section.
The data will include the question text the scene and slide numbers plus the question type.
The Time Column shows the total time for the whole package plus the individual time spent on each question.
The Status column will show the completion status for the package.
The Learner Response Column will show the response to the question, the format depends on the question type.
The Result Column will show if the response was correct or incorrect or neutral if there was no correct answer set (e.g. likert and free text questions)
