Today in Groningen DevCon there has been a long time expected announcement... yes, Self and Managed hosting users will have REST API!!!
Yeah sure, great, when?
Probably Mark O'Neil could give us more details.
I do not have a specific release date at this time, but REST APIs for 9.1 is on the Roadmap.
I've added an item to my reminders to come back here with more information when I can be more specific about a target release.
In the meantime feel free to visit https://developer.blackboard.com to take a look at the current REST API documentation.
That's great news!
I am excited to be able to share that with the release of Learn 9.1 Q2 2016 (see release notes) Learn REST APIs are in Technical Preview. Please take a moment to review our The REST 9.1 Technical Preview which outlines the technical preview and The REST API Framework which provides insight into how the REST APIs work with Learn and the Developer Portal.
When you are ready, hop on over to The REST Technical Preview Discussion Forum to participate in the discussion and let us know what you think, or attend an upcoming developer office hours session where (among other dev related topics) we are discussing our new REST APIs.
Thank you and happy coding!
I'm pretty sure they're already in Q4 2015!
For clarity, REST is available in Tech Preview form in Q2 2016 and above. There is a REST B2 in Q4 2015, however, it is only usable by Blackboard core functionality.
Does anyone know where to find the REST API roadmap? We are working on integrating our SIS with blackboard using the REST API but I miss some functionalities like creating course categories, course categories membership and some others basics.
Hi Raúl Ruiz,
The roadmap isn't posted anywhere, unfortunately. I'm not sure if or when course categories are on the roadmap. Mark O'Neil, can you shed any light on whether we are looking at course categories yet?
Hi REST people,
When is course group management to be added to the REST API? That would be awesome! (Well, as awesome as getting access to groups via REST can be).
