If you were able to attend the 2019 Fall Symposium, please share your take-aways with the group!
I'll kick off the discussion by sharing my takeaways. Don't be shy! We'd love to learn what you took away or if you have ideas for the next event you would like to share.
I think one of the biggest takeaways was that we have a really valuable network of colleagues and schools in our area!! It was great to see the interaction and collaboration that happened throughout the day through the networking time, the round table discussions, and the participation/questions during presentations.
It is time well spent to 'get out of our own worlds' and to see what others in the field are doing. This inspires new ideas, recharges us to better serve students & faculty, and provides camaraderie and a support network for our common struggles.
One area I would like to grow in is using a course quality rubric (such as the ECP Rubric or OSCQR Rubric) to guide my course development and review. Many of these principles are embedded in my institution's course design and revision processes, but I would like to be more intentional to point them out to SMEs and faculty. Knowledge is power and these tools are great resources to inform how to develop effective teaching and learning experiences.
I love that we are getting more faculty engagement in the group! It was so cool to see so many faculty on the event roster.
