"Grade Thread" checkbox is not checked by default in Create Thread page even if "Grade Threads" is checked when creating a Forum.
We confirmed this on Q2 2019.
"If you chose to grade threads when you created the forum, you decide on a thread-by-thread basis whether to grade a thread. In the Grading section, select the check box for Grade Thread and type Points possible. Select the check box for Show participants in needs grading status and select the number of posts from the drop-down list. Applying this setting displays the needs grading icon in the Grade Center and places the posts in the queue on the Needs Grading page after users make the specified number of posts. If you select a grading option and do NOT select the check box, the needs grading icon does not appear in the Grade Center and posts do not appear on the Needs Grading page."
Support said this is a FAD and encouraged us to submit an enhancement request.
STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1. login to Bb Learn as instructor
2. access to a course
3. click "Discussions" in course menu
4. click "Create Forum" button
5. click "Submit" button with the following settings.
- Name : Test Forum (whichever is ok)
- Grade : select "Grade Threads"
6. click the created forum link
7. click "Create Thread" button
Observed behavior : "Grade Thread" checkbox is not checked by default
Expected behavior : "Grade Thread" checkbox should be checked by default
We think that when the instructor has selected "Grade Threads" when creating the forum,
the instructor intends to grade the threads so "Grade Thread" checkbox should be checked by default during thread creation.
Then it is the decision of the thread creator either to keep the "Grade Thread" checkbox checked or uncheck it.
