There is a slight design update in how a video displays closed captions on Moodle. I'm using the SNAP theme, so not sure if it displays differently in other themes. I hope I am not alone!
The old design had a cc button that opened a menu:
In that menu, the default setting is "captions off", and you can select "en" as the desired caption (we only have English as an option on our site).
The new design uses a hamburger menu for both download and captions, and the problem is that it looks like you are selecting the button to turn the captions off. When you click on it, it changes to the caption available, but it's counter intuitive.
A minor issue, but something that is important, especially to users who find the expansive nuances of Moodle very overwhelming.
I actually prefer the old design because the captions are easily seen, and easy to navigate. For accessibility, it's much cleaner.
