The test tool in Blackboard is designed around a very limited concept of how tests may be used as a part of the educational process. It a summative design. The student prepares for the test, takes the test, and receives designated feedback after completing the test. But...tests can be used in a formative manner to help students gauge their mastery before taking a summative assessment.
The existing tool could be modified is to provide a setting that would allow the instructor to give the student immediate feedback upon saving his/her response. The student should receive a correct/incorrect indicator and the feedback provided by the instructor.
