Any plans to upgrade the Moodle Module (Classic) for Moodle 3.3?
did you observe remarkable issues with the latest Module 3.1.7 on Moodle v3.3 ?
I'm aware of a problem with the moodlerooms template "Snap" reported 5 months ago, but this affects Moodle admin's work only. Anything else issues?
Or is your idea about the total loss of support information on the Moodle module for Classic (except the Issue article above) ?
I assume you are referring to this Support article
where Moodle b 2016012000 (Moodle v3.0.2) is still the latest "supported Moodle version". I agree that we miss Blackboard's claim about ongoing Classic support for Moodle's current versions. Please refer to my Idea:
Collab Classic's Moodle plugin needs an update to stay compatible with a secure Moodle version
and the quest to the Developers community Moodle integration plugin for Collab Classic
I has advised to do so by Behind Blackboard support, who was not able to solve my issue with lacking compatibility infos.
However, as a general matter of history, I have to state, that the Classic Moodle module was often driven "on your own risk" (except for moodlerooms customers). Integration Issues reporting always took a longer pathway to reach the public.
Some Moodle admin might remember the Collaborate field beta test with Moodle v2.6 users willing to use Collaborate Classic.
Product support claimed the module 3.1.0 "supports 2.4- 2.5 , 2.6 might be working also" 8 months long until June 2014. From begin of the test period, they collected some severe issue reports with no claim correction attempt nor filing issues on Moodle Classic Known Issues. In June 2014, Module 3.1.2 was announced as a minor "update with new exotic localisations", hiding the important note, that there is also a fix nside to clear the 2.6 bug. At this time, many Moodlers were jumping to Moodle 2.7 raised a month before Some 2.6 user kept the buggy 3.1.0 as they were not interestedThe bottom line fact was, that 2.4 users were not warned to
As with Moodle module issue handling, written communication of claims were justified backwards to vanish "2.6 might work" from the articles.
What can we learn from this history ?
I point to that for illustration, that Moodle admins sometimes must drive the Blackboard module at own risk, withstanding the teacher's drive to get the latest newest Moodle functionality soon. The Blackboard product Moodle Integration for Classic does not provide clear information as other products, e.g.
dealing with terms
All we hear is:Try the good old 3.1.7 module with latest Moodle - we have no information about any issues so far.
That sounds to me like a Déjà Vu of the information given for Moodle 2.6
My personal solution fafter that experience is:Drive Moodle LTS versions only!
Next long term supported Moodle is V3.5 announced to be released in June
If history recycles as usual, there might come the relase of a last Moodle module with v3.1-3.5 support,
supposed that there are any moodlerooms customers still requesting integration of Collaborate Classic.
Juan, I therefore do not exspect a plan to fix issues with Moodle 3.3 in particular.
Any comments or additional bug reports ?
A statement from the Collaborate product management to us Moodle admins would be very nice.
