While playing Kaltura videos on the BB Student app, they open up in the browser, instead of the app.
We are looking for a way to run the videos on the BB Student app.
This is a critical piece that is missing from BB student. Students are watching videos in courses on an ever increasing level.
We strongly agree - there are are several methods to place kaltura content and types of content/players like from Capture Space presentations - all should work well with the number of schools that have integrated Kaltura with Learn.
To me, this is mission critical.
We have to put videos in Kaltura for Reach Closed Captioning so this becomes an accessibility issue as well.
In my opinion, this is a bug. This is not an idea I should have to vote on. And to find out that students/instructors cannot vote on things without having to create a Bb Community account is also frustrating. Is there any way you can link to Bb Community directly from Blackboard Learn or Blackboard Help so they do not have to be inconvenienced and create another account?
I have shared this idea with Dan Loury who is the BB mobile product manager. I am hoping he can provide his insight.
Are there any news on this? Kaltura Mashups are very useful, and in 2019 it is necessary to have a mobile app that lets students watch the video deployed through a very well integrated video platform as Kaltura.
the biggest issue is that the mobile app or Safari on iOs won't allow for the third-party cookies needed to play the Kaltura videos (or some other third-party videos that we use).
This could be resolved by changing your kaltura url to be a sub-domain of your Blackboard one, and updating your SSL certificate to cover it. Kaltura gave me directions to do this, but I didn't want to risk breaking links to Kaltura.
We just recommend students using Chrome on iOs to view them.
Thanks, however I am mentioning the Blackboard App, not browser.
On iOS app only the iframe embedding works.
