One of our Vice Chancellor had an inquired, or a suggested on the functionality for improvements to Calendar and Due Dates.

The expectation for due dates on any assignments, tests, wikis, blogs, or forums is the due dates are always to be visible to students on the Course Calendar.

The expectation of the instructor is the student to use the Course Calendar as a course planner or as a course guide based on when assignments, tests, wikis, blogs, or forums are due.

The expectation of the instructor is the student to use the Course Calendar as a Time Management Tool.  If the Availability Dates hide the Due Dates from the students, then the Due Dates are useless in the student's ability to do Time Management.

The expectation of the instructor is the availability dates to control the access of the assignments, tests, wikis, blogs, or forums.  To control when the student can access or cannot access the assignments, tests, wikis, blogs, or forums to complete the expected task.  Availability Dates should not hide the Due Dates from the student's Course Calendar view.

The expectation of the instructor is the Course Calendar to have the Due Date visible with no accessibility to the assignments, tests, wikis, blogs, or forums when outside the expected availability dates.  Once inside the expected availability dates, then the Due Date on the Course Calendar should have an accessibility link to the assignments, tests, wikis, blogs, or forums.
