Would be useful if an "Allow additional attempt' button was added to assessments...as in assignments.
Are you referring to the test exceptions area where you can give them an extra attempt so you don't have to delete the first attempt?
something simpler...from grade center under view grade details, like with assignments. Useful for a second attempt during same test time period.
I believe "Ignore Attempt" works the same way as the "Allow additional attempt" feature. If not, can someone describe how the functionality differs?
I thought they were different, and just did a test to confirm. Ignore attempt doesn't really have to involve the student at all. It is a way to eliminate one attempt from the scoring logic. For example. If I have a test that is set to allow 2 attempts, and have it set to use the last graded attempt in my grade center, I might have a fight on my hands from a student who took the test twice and got a lower score the second time. So one way to fix it for that one student, provided they have a VERY good explanation - would be to have the system ignore the last attempt. I just tried it, and my grade center score reverted to the score of the first test.
Another way to fix it is to strike a deal with the student - they can take it a third time (AKA Allow additional attempt) but this time they are stuck with the score they get.
Student will see that choice as a no brainer and when asked the question "are they the same" will laugh in our faces.
To answer the person directly - it is there now. Unless you have a anonymously graded assignment. Depending on your version, it is there or not. We just upgraded to Q2 2018, and there is finally a "Allow additional Attempt" button.
We are still on the old version, then, because this is not available to us.
