Higher education is going through a significant transition period. Teaching and learning are taking place in a setting that is based on models where instructors and institutions use educational technology to administer education rather than facilitate the effective delivery of teaching and learning resources, and a fluid learning environment. In this presentation, we will discuss the characteristics and preferences of online students, and propose a strategic guide for online education -- and e-learning in general -- as we address the needs of the new "traditional" learner in the 21st century.

You will learn:

  • characteristics and preferences of online students
  • significant trends and implications in online education
  • how Blackboard aligns with challenges faced in online education in the 21st century
