Principle Strategist, Strategy & Transformation Services at Blackboard, Inc.With over two decades of experience in education, Chad Kainz, Principal Strategist, specializes in strategy, design, planning, and change management across digital learning, learning environments, student and learner experience, and technology ecosystems and services. Prior to joining Blackboard in 2010, he served in a number of capacities at the University of Chicago including as its Assistant CIO, Executive Director for Campus & Academic Services, and Senior Director for Academic Technologies; coordinator of the Provost’s Program for Academic Technology Innovation; and chair of the Data Center & Middleware Task Force. He served on accreditation self-study teams and various institutional councils and steering committees on topics such as diversity, copyright, institutional planning, and educational transformation; and engaged in collaborative efforts of the Ivy League, Big Ten, CNI, NITLE, EDUCAUSE, NLM/IAIMS, CLARIN, Internet2 and others. Chad contributed eight years of service to the IEEE 1484 Learning Technology Standards Committee, where he was vice-chair for four; was a master planning subject matter expert to DEGW (now AECOM) in the UK and US; and with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, contributed to and co-directed global, multi-institutional technology evaluation and cloud service planning projects related to scholarship, research and learning.
