The Blackboard Community is a wealth of information for Administrators and Developers alike. Yet, despite having all this knowledge at our fingertips there are still routine tasks and pain-points in our friendly LMS that we have grown accustomed to. The fast-paced nature of work can trick us into thinking that annual upgrades are our only hope for new features and fixed issues, but some seemingly complex tools may provide the most simple solution.
One strategy for improving the teaching and learning experience is to take existing knowledge in the Community, pair it with proven tools and supplement with outside research when needed. Specifically, I will be demonstrating how a complex tool like Java Hacks can be simplified to the beginner level through the Community, W3Schools and an appetite for trial and error. By leveraging these resources, our Course Copy process went from generating 5,000 tickets/year to self-service.
The Community is the gift that keeps on giving, and through it, we can find the confidence to solve problems we thought were otherwise impossible.
