Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan, like most institutions has a strong goal towards student success, retention and persistence. How is the college accomplishing this? One of the ways is by making Blackboard Learn the primary student and faculty portal. Proactive information can be found in the LMS. Therefore, the college set out to require that all faculty have Blackboard course sites.
We are maximizing Blackboard Communities for student and faculty communication, as well as leveraging LTIs to connect all other enterprise systems, but what about faculty instructional engagement? Not only is this the primary data needed to accomplish the institution goals of student success, but it is also by far the most challenging. Enter the Blackboard Blackbelt professional development program, created by our Innovation Technologies Manager and sponsored by the Teaching and Learning Center at WCC to support institution-wide adoption.
Participants will walk away with an understanding of the leadership vision and goals, combined with knowledge of how to develop your own Blackboard Blackbelt program. The results of this program will speak for itself.
