Innovation in Graduate Learning Using Blackboard Ultra - The Keypath/James Cook University Approach

ALEX TSIRGIALOS & KATE CASEY | KEYPATH EDUCATION

When Keypath Education partnered with James Cook University (JCU) to design and deliver two new masters-level online intensive courses using Blackboard’s Ultra Experience, little was understood about how Ultra’s functionality and available tools will enable creative learning design.

This session presents the solutions Keypath developed with JCU, to enable the transition from learning design in a conventional LMS to creating engaging graduate courses using the modern striped-down and mobile-first approach that is inherent in Blackboard Ultra. It will be argued that this new approach creates opportunities for multiple stakeholders, such as Subject Matter Experts, Students, Learning Designers and Tutors/Facilitators and empowers them to think differently about studying, teaching and designing learning experiences.
