Since 2003, the Speak Up Research Project on Digital Learning has collected the authentic, unfiltered views and ideas of over 5.4 million K-12 students, parents and educators on digital learning. A key takeaway from the student data is that today’s students have a clear vision about their preferences for learning. The average 6th grader today is an almost perfect embodiment of this vision articulating a strong desire for learning experiences that are socially-based, un-tethered and digital rich. But how well are our schools meeting those expectations as we implement new classroom models? In the session, we will share what we have learned about students’ preferences for blended and online learning as well as their wish list for greater access to social media and digital content in school. Plan to be surprised!
