Learning Analytics offers considerable promise with significant work undertaken in the implementation of Analytics for Learn and Business Intelligence platforms to support data reporting. While this work has provided information and insight around learning and teaching interactions at many levels and in a variety of contexts little progress has been made on the application of learning analytics across the curriculum, course or student lifecycle, or other life cycles. One approach to addressing this at Charles Darwin University is to conceptualize the reports within a framework of the learning and teaching cycle. This includes a variety of perspectives from the learning and teaching journey to the curriculum lifecycle and technology upgrade cycles. This provides the opportunity to consider the relevance of various reports to different learning and teaching contexts, approaches and for different purposes. This session will unpack the application of Learning Analytics across several lifecycles drawing attention to the benefits and limitations.
