Designing courses that enhance the student experience is no easy task. Determining the most effective ways to present content and assess learning is an equal challenge. Creativity is essential in designing an engaging course, but what does it mean to be a creative educator? This session is geared towards instructional designers, faculty members and those serving in a leadership role, and will cover the following topics: the definition of creativity within education, ways to increase creativity within an online course, ways to leverage authentic learning to make the course more applicable to students. The strategies include scenario-based lessons and storytelling in addition to using media to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the session will cover real-life examples, the benefits of more creative courses and how the student experience is improved. Although this is an informative session, audience participation will be welcomed.
