Overview & Highlights of Meeting

  • Open forum--- meeting opened by Randy Dominguez opening discussion to members of the user group to discuss our plans and ideas for the future of our group as well as some of what had been discussed in an open meeting with other Blackboard
  • Discussion of systems and deployments
  • Discussion of expectations and what we’d like to see
  • Thoughts on various presentation styles including meet-ups, webinars, etc.
  • Discussion of new 7 week courses versus classic 8 weeks and 16 weeks; creating 6 starting points for courses at one college
  • Casey Eubank---President of KBUG--- spoke on how they’ve done/are doing things

What KBUG is doing and other ideas

 

  • Webinars with presenters on
    • Schools who are new to SaaS and their transition process
    • Local institutes presenting on Ally
    • Showcases of other colleges and their standard course options
    • Open Forum/Discussion session
  • 2 in person meetings (align with I-TRAK and something else I missed , but they’re essentially instructional designer and/or technology type conventions that align to make it a  2for1 experience.
    • 1 in the Fall
    • 1 in Spring
  • ? asked if they were trying to build up Faculty or if it was mostly instructional technologists, designers, and administrators.
    • Consensus was that few faculty would be able to be convinced or interested at this time
  • Asked NSU what they presented to TexasBUG because it was made known in a planning meeting for panel at Blackboard World
    • Presented on their switch to Ultra from the perspective of a person from Teaching Learning and the other from 
      • § Will be presenting at Blackboard World on Wed. July 18th during 11:30AM session
