The University of Windsor has worked to build customizations and a toolkit designed for our LMS system administrators. The purpose of the toolkit was to cull various reports not available out of the BB box to provide targeted supports to users. However, demand quickly grew beyond this endeavour as our users became aware of the benefits of the learning analytics data. Researchers began asking for anonymized data and administrators queried about access to full programme data. The list of reports grew, and the data governance demands escalated into the formation of a new Data Governance Committee for the campus. Given the depth and breadth of the queries the LMS Team has faced regarding the implementation of learning analytics, the University will use the LMS Data Analytics project as a pilot for policy development surrounding access and governance of data on campus.
